Searching for accounts is standardized across the Finance application. There are two main ways you will search for accounts on the various pages in the application.
Search Bar
On a few pages in Beacon Finance, there is a CAN search bar near the top of the data grid. For example, the Accounts page or edit View page.
To use this search bar type the account number or name you are of the summary account or CAN you are looking for. As you type, a "Go To Results" button will appear. Next to that button, you will see in parathesis the number of matches the search has found. Click the Enter button on your keyboard or use your mouse to click the Go To Results button to open the search results. This will open a dropdown with the list of possible results. Click on the account from the drop-down list and the system will find and highlight the account in your view.
Account Navigator
On most other pages in the application, there is an account navigator tool that will be used to reload the page with data from a new account..
Click the Title of the account from the top left of the page. In this example, the title is Intramural.
From the small pop up you can navigate up or down the account hierarchy.
To navigate up the account hierarchy, click the Account name (in blue) at the top. In this example, Click CCR Appropriated CANs: 0996
To navigate down the account hierarchy, click the Select Sub Account drop. You can continue to navigate down the sub folders until you reach the CAN level.
Another way to find an account is to use the Search Account option. Click the Search Accounts box, and in the new pop up type the name or number of the account you are looking for. As you type either the name or number, a list of possible results will start to populate. You can choose from the list to save time. Once you have selected the account click the Loac button.
