The Projection Details page provides specific information about entered projections. From the Projection Details page, users can add, edit, delete, and reconcile projections.

Getting to the Projection Details Screen

The quickest way to get to the Projection Details screen is to click the checkbox next to the Account on the Account Structure and use the shortcut to Projections icon.

You may want to edit a projection if adjustments are made to an existing projection (change in expected obligation, change in vendor) or if more information becomes available (document number, vendor). To make adjustments to a projection, click the Edit link next to the existing projection. This will take you to the Edit Projection screen where you can modify the month, projected amount, document #, and vendor name. You may also add a note or comment about the projection. Then click on either the Save and Return to go back to the Main List or Save and Continue to edit another projection.

You may want to delete a projection if, for example, as the fiscal year progresses, you discover that money will not be obligated as you projected. If this is the case, you can delete a projection by clicking "Delete" next to the existing projection.

Note: You do not need to delete projections after they expire or if the cost is obligated. Use the Reconcile link to account for projections that have hit.

Beacon Finance allows for planning costs to be reconciled with actual costs. Use the Reconcile Projections tool to match projections with real transactions and to keep your expected projected costs up-to-date. If used properly, the Projections Module can be a useful and accurate planning tool. This features does require maintenance by Beacon Finance users.
